Focus on Gratitude

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Take a few minutes today to be grateful for what you do have. Whatever you think about will grow. When you think about all that you have , the Universe will continue to make sure you will have more. If you waste your time thinking of all the things you don’t have or can’t do, the Universe will see to it that you continue to lack the means or ability to do those things or have those things.

You get what you “expect” either way.

The Best Pancakes!

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

How about making the very best pancakes for your family during the holidays! These are moist, flavorful and healthy.

Start with 1 cup of Bisquick. Stir in 1 egg, 2/3 cup of non-fat milk, 1 heaping tablespoon of corn meal, 1 heaping tablespoon of wheat germ, 1/3 cup of Ocean Spray Cran-fruit, 1/2 of a banana (thinly sliced),or 1/2 cup of diced apple or 1/2 cup of blueberries. Place spoonfuls of batter on a greased hot griddle. Flip when the air bubbles pop open and the edges are dry.

These are so good you might even skip the syrup!

If you are a pet lover, you should know about this invaluable resource. Her name is Susan Hamlin and she is known as The Saratoga Animal Whisperer. I have seen much of her work and can tell you without reservation that she is fabulous. She is well versed in medical issues, behavioral issues, and spacial concerns involving all types of animals. This is one name and number that should be added to your list.

Make Holiday Scents

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

It’s all about the ambiance! We feel so much better this time of year when surrounded with the timeless scents of pine, balsam, and cedar. Surveys have proven that houses for sale are more appealing with these particular scents.

During the holiday season, the aromas of mulled cider, apple pie, or cinnamon buns are also guaranteed to evoke feelings of home and joy. Scents to avoid this time of year would be heavy florals.

Feng shui loves pleasant aromas!

I am sick of shopping! Now that the economy seems to be “correcting” itself, I feel a lot less pressure to buy stuff for people. I have decided to arrange gatherings instead. A pot luck lunch get together for one set of friends is already planned. A brunch is something I am currently planning with some relations. Next on my list for another group is an afternoon finger food and cocktail party. No gifts required at any of these…just the good company of the people who matter. It’s the sharing of food, time, and good feelings that make the holidays most wonderful!
