Holiday Clutter
As we get out those Christmas decorations, weed out the ones that are shabby or no longer hold any meaning. More is not better!! People appreciate the simpler, more meaningful, more elegant decorating. Don’t put up a tree just because everyone expects it. If you love it, fine. If it is just a chore, go for a large wreath of greens decorated with a few cherished items. Perhaps a mantle or table covered with ribbons, greens an fake snowflakes are all you need. A beautiful centerpiece created by your local florist can make a room look festive without overwhelming it.
If this is a year that you are cutting back on extravagant spending, wrap presents in reusable containers, and try to choose gifts according to their usefulness. Going in with family members on large ticket items is a great way to save money. Don’t be afraid to sit down with family members and talk openly about cutting back. Now is NOT the time to spoil your kids with whatever they want. Teach them about value and appreciation!
Wise spending and meaningful holidays is good Feng Shui!
